#19 Interview With Dean Paul Rothman, Dean of the School of Medicine & CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine

Dean Paul Rothman took time to visit our Podcast and share his thoughts on a variety of issues. Before the Podcast he took a minute to reflect on this season's Baltimore Orioles and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. (Both teams very dear in our hearts). But the Dean's time is precious and he got down to business. (The Q&A Timeline is below).

1:05 -   How would you describe the differences and challenges of the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore medical campus as compared to your previous campus at the University of Iowa in Iowa City?

2:48 - What role do you see for the Welch Library in supporting the strategies described in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Strategic Plan?

7:40 - The Welch Library building is undergoing renovations that are designed to update the building for 21st century use while keeping its historical charm. Could you describe how you see these renovations contributing to the overall Hopkins community?

10:18 -  What do you see as the future of medical libraries, their staff, resources and services? How will medical libraries need to change and adapt? How should library staff address the challenges and opportunities posed by technology and the shift to digital collections?

13:15 - The JHM Strategic Plan emphasizes the importance of metrics.  From your perspective, what metrics should the Welch Library use to measure its value to Johns Hopkins Medicine?

15:12 - How do you see the Open Access movement impacting the future of medical libraries?
