Summer Is Upon Us

The Welch Library says Hello Summertime! If you're new to Hopkins or to our fair state of Maryland, it's pretty easy to find your way to one of Maryland's many summer events. Set aside time to enjoy some music outdoors, a crab cake or two, a cool libation and yes, around town you may even spot a pig catching a few rays.
Those Federal Hill (sponsored by the American visionary Art Museum)  "Flicks on the Hill" are a great way to enjoy an evening out. And as for crab cakes, you can't go wrong if you visit a certain restaurant on Harford Rd.  But I can't play favorites. And don't think festival season is over! (Timonium Fairgrounds also hosts the Maryland State Fair) We're just getting warmed up!
So what's cooking at the Welch Library? Let's get down to business.

New Resources
The Merck Index online now has a new platform, which is much easier to use. Here's more...
And speaking of new platforms, we posted this regarding the Bates Guide To Physical Examination earlier this month.
We have a new Ebook on reserve: (this accepts unlimited users EXCEPT for Howard County General)

Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need (7th ed., 2012)

Social Media
From Facebook we posted this inspiring piece about a scholar taking matters into his own hands.
(Below, Johns Hopkins students hanging out in 1959. Oh those wacky college kids)
Again from the Welch Facebook page, (we keep mentioning because patrons may not know we have one) you couldn't have missed this little nugget. It'll make you walk a wee bit taller.
Hold those Powerpoint presentations! There's a new approach-a-coming round the bend.
And here's our first anouncement for "The Telling Project" that will be performed at Hopkins on September 11th. Haven't heard of "Telling". Take a second to peruse....
And our blog has some reflections on a ride for Multiple Scelerosis a few week back. Working for Hopkins is a great way to kick-start ye olde Volunteer Spirit.
We also dip into "What Cha Reading" ---- a few Welch staffers give their latest literary engagements.
Are you a medical student in need of resources? Well, it's very possible you've just hit the great big you-know-what....
Haven't had the opportunity to set your sights on one of our Welch Service Tutorials? As the sayin goes, there could be one with your name on it!
We've also got Medical Subject Heading suggestions for authors...
And if you find yourself needing information about Image Resourses, look no further.
And lastly, from time-to-time, Welch hosts a variety of visitors. (That's our new Director Anne Seymour smack dab in the middle) We just wanted to include this happy-as-a-summer's-day picture to wind things up for June.
We hope everyone's summer is chockful of all the fun you can carry. See you in July!
